Instruments such as say shakers, tamborine etc other that buying them and using a mic to record them, I've been looking for a VST plugin to use with Cubase to use instead for the time being yet I can't seem to find one anyway I always come across Synths, guitar and bass plugins.

If anyone could recommend any or point me in the right direction

Thanks,
Tom.

Swar systems, Sampletank and Miroslav Philharmonik between them have a vast array of percussion instruments. Personally, I prefer the real thing but the real thing isn't always available so these do fine, depending on your taste.
Not to get too anal about it, but things like bunches of keys and packets of rice make good tambourine-y shaker-y type sounds too.

Thanks for the advice Grim, I mean I've just started with the whole Home Recording thing so eventually I will get the real things and mic them but it's just for the time inbetween then and now.

Toontrack offers a Latin Percussion samplepack for use with EZDrummer. It has both samples and MIDI loops.

Sweetwater has a pretty good sale on EZDrummer and EZX right now.
