so I have the RAM thing down but would a 120GB hard drive suit running Cubase LE(will be upgraded)? I have multiple USB thumbdrives that have 1-8GBs on them so I'd imagine that it wouldnt matter if I saved 150 getting 80 less gigs on my hard drive.

good idea?

120 gigs should fine. If your automatically saving every track you do and making backups, then you might have to go through and delete what you dont need every once in a while.

thanks, thats what I figured. I won't work on many projects more than like 30 tracks anyway.

Mate, I worked for 2 years on a 4 gig HDD. I just made sure I saved as a bundle (cakewalk) when done & burnt them to CDR.
You'll be laughing if you are a tidy, clean up sort of person!

or you could be untidy like me and had to delete hundreds of files every couple of months on my 30 gig hard drive.

I don't like having more than a few things next to me at once and I know on computers I only keep what I need.

Drives are pretty cheap these days.

You might concider buying 2 smaller drives so you can back your data up. One drive for stuff you're working on and another for stuff you want to keep around for a while.

I've lost LOTS of data over the years. Backing up important data is essential.

yeah, on newegg.com theres several great external hard drives I'm looking into in the $100-130 price range. now partitioning hard drives on a mac, reading up on it!

I'd just pony up the extra cash and put those back on a hard drive. CDR's don't last forever... or anywhere near it.
