So I'm using a direct input (M-audio fast-track pro) and recording into FL Studio, using an amp modeler in the program. The tone itself is generally fine, but it doesn't seem like there's any power behind it. It's difficult to explain, but it sounds like the sound is just coming through, almost as if you're holding a microphone next to an amp or something like that. Thoughts? Solutions?

so your daw based amp modeler doesn't have any power behind it, huh? get a big amp and crank it up.

and don't cross post, dude. one forum is good.

Thanks for the tip. and sorry about crossing forums; I'm new to the site and was unsure which one to post in.

The description of the problem is so vague that it's hard to know what to suggest. Can you elaborate a little more on what you mean by

because you make it seem like an immense negative. Do you have an actual amp and mic that you can use ? You may be pleasantly surprized.

no worries. people usually browse the board by hitting the new posts button, so whichever forum a post is in, people will see it.

Give some more detail. What kind of guitar? What modeling program?

suggestion...play the recorded tracks back through a set of monitors/speakers and re-record the sound the monitors add to the tracks...and/or re-amp and re-record then add to the original tracks...i use a home made subkick mic if you search Google youl find plans...make one... use it with a condenser mic...youl like the sound im sure...i also use midi guitar...but that's beyond this post...
