Noob here...(well kinda...read a lot but never post) Hello everyone

First things...

This is a bit on the heavy, deathy side of music...so if you don't like the heavier stuff...you've been warned...LOL

My band just finished up recording and I'm damn impressed with the way things turned out. I've seen other local bands that spent a couple thousand dollars in a studio come out with something that can't even touch what we got working in a home studio.

Drums were recorded on a Yamaha AW16G digital recorder.

Drum tracks were then imported into Adobe Audition (Cool Edit Pro)
Guitars were recorded using a Line 6 PODxt Pro
Bass was recorded using a Line 6 Bass POD
and of course...vox=microphone

I made a preview with clips of the songs...take a listen and let me know what you think.

man, you got to make about four clicks only to get to mp3.com, why not link directly there?

I actually have some old tunes on mp3.com, yet they still wanted me to register so I bailed. Post this somewhere else and I'll give it a go.

I'm not saying this is always the case...But I've heard some pretty low quality stuff come out of a studio when big money(for a working local band) was shelled out...

OK, checked it out, the bass drum is distorting big time where I'm standing. Sounds pretty good for it's genre, it's out of my taste though now. I'd say good job.

It's a little hard to review having only a few seconds of each song...

But anyway... the first few samples had vox that weren't cutting through. Real cool guitar sounds, but they're covering the vox a bit.

Liked the doubled guitars.

A couple samples were a little on the quiet side (considering the genre).

I thought the songs all sounded alike.

It's hard to give a good critique when you only get a few seconds. I agree with a lot of what has already been said: vox is buried in places, etc.

It sounds like the vox was overdriven in places (for example the passage at 1:57-2:09). Maybe this was done on purpose to add a little extra edge to it? Regardless, I think it muddies up the vox a bit. This might be part of why it doesn't cut like it should.

Too much low-bass on the kick.

Snare is weak.

Drums are in mono?

Bass lacks definition.

Guitar sounds are adequate, but kind of generic. They lack complexity.

Too much 'verb on the vocals.

Drum's need definition & clarity. Cap the kick. Git is nice but where's the beef.............errrrr...........the bass!!?? Vocals are present but needs a bit of warmth. Nice song!
