Hey there fellow Fostex users!

I'm completely new to this community and am mostly completely lost.

I have a VF80 which I've had for 3 or 4 years now, and has been serving me well. Until recently, all I had as far as mics were concerned were 2 cheap condenser mics (just bought a Shure SM57). Basically, I don't have any friends that do home recording, and I'm not sure where mine stand as far as quality goes. I record each track individually.

You can hear samples of my recordings at myspace.com/benprisbylla (even though myspace destroys the quality of mp3s even more than they're already damaged).

My main question other than what you all think about my VF80 is about mastering. I want to send my songs off to be mastered by someone, but since there really isn't a way to burn the tracks onto a CD other than to master them and then burn them, I wasn't sure if this would be acceptable for the mastering studio. Would it make a difference? I think the tracks sound OK as is, but would like there to be some noise reduction done, some volume modifications, etc. Anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks! And I wouldn't be offended if no one responded, when I searched the VF80 here, I saw that no one has talked about it for two years. Guess I'm slightly outdated!

Haha, I'm just as new as you, but I would advise actually calling the Mastering facility you intend to use for your songs and ask them what format they would prefer.. the more answers you get on this forum, the lower your odds of choosing the right answer is.. Everyone has an oppinion - the mastering facility will know for sure!
