Basically I have a few instrumental tracks, but I want to add vocals to them. Can someone tell me the cheapest way to this and at a decent quality?

Thanks in advance for any help and if I posted in the wrong section of the forum please move it to the correct :P

best username since ez_willis! congrats!

BTW where did you glean that gem that all reviews are advertising, that there are no real reviews in magazines...seriously where did you find the proof..c'mon share with me, I'd love to know

Alot of people swear by Consumer Reports...based on the fact that they do not accept advertizing...lousy shame they dont review products we do use...but my policy is usually trust no sales people...be it a reviewer in a mag...to a blurb on thier advertising page...to that punk at guitar center that was busing tables last week...if they have something to gain, your best interests are not going to be served.

Most of the good products dont have any returns at all...you should base things on that.

You can also look at the incidents of a real studio with a certain peice on thier gear lists...or what has been used by the big time hitmakers.

Havent you ever thought that just maybe if that cheaply made unuseable stuff were any good the pros would be using them?...like that one guy said who couldnt tell the difference in quality between a Behringer and a Neumann U87...dont you think all the pros would have lockers full of behringers?

Why would I admit I was wrong to a guy who is wrong most of the time...we can agree to disagree...and soon down the line when you mature at this you will agree...dont forget...I was a newb once too.

Again what returns..show me?

What bad reviews..show me?

Who's talking about Behringer here? Im talking about a product I suggested was good..I never said it was in a pro's studio..why would it be, there's much better for more cash...thats not the point

And I may be a newb here..on this forum..but this is not the universe, though some may struggle with that news..

so again...show me the returns on this piece of crap ART project that everybody loves... or move on

Here ya go, here's a personal review

'ART Tube MP Project 8/10

Add warmth to a vocal track at the fraction of the cost of other preamps. Great for the home studio, plus changing the tube makes it sound different.

lol

you guys that only live on anecdotal evidence are brilliant...thanks Im having a great laugh here :)

wait, what?

I hated to break the news

http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/ART-Tube-MP-Professional-Mic-PreampProcessor?sku=484020

All but one owner here is trashing that peice...If Id have bothered to write one I would have trashed it too...mine was a noisy POS.

Im only gonna say this one more time..please pay attention

I recommended the "ART tube MP Project"

Not the MP, not the 2 channel. not the Zdirect, not the professional, not the Dual pre, not the phantom and not what you have linked...try here

Even then all but one owner is not trashing the Studio MP in your link...but 5/10 is a good score to you in one post but 4.5/5 (that works out as 9/10 for the hard of thinking) in another is trashing something?

from your link on an item Im not even recommending:

1. I liked it so well that I could no longer resist the howling bargain offered here on the Tube MP Studio, and bought 2. I love them all.

2. They really can breath a lot of life into a low-end mic. I have an MXL 990 that sounds fantastic when the ART preamp is in the chain

3. I've been using mine for more than 10 years, and it's still running strong.

4. This thing is a great tool for anybody doing home recording.

5. Mid-range is fat and upper registers just sings.

6. This unit runs completely silent and is surprisingly sturdy.

7. Tube MP or God that is a good question. It's forty (40) bucks ($). And it works great for mics, guitar, bass etc. Get this if you have an amp it improves your sound quality immensely.

thants just 7 out of the first 10 reviews..I cant be arsed posting anymore..its like shooting fish in a barrel..In fact thanks to you Im going to buy tons of behringer gear now as you are so wrong its doubtful you're ever right, and your research into proving a point is hilarious...you are my favourite member so far!

you really are a funny bloke..thanks again :D

No you have been quite entertaining...you must have gone to clown college:)

As if...this is a recording forum...people here are not idiots...lol...you came off looking dumb here:rolleyes:

I'm cut...a handful in here are right about a product they've never tried, comment on in the wrong context, and misconstrue just about every post written... yet the rest of the world reviewing it is wrong?

but you are right I am dumb..I engaged in an argument with a guy who cant even get the product right in the first place?!?!

I wish there was a pished myself laughing emoticon..man it would be overused right now

You see...it wasn't me...but you that was pwned here...but not by me...but a company that sold you a preamp with a cheap tube that is only useful as a light at the voltage it takes in from that DC adapter...only the gullible fall for that marketing gimmick...and the fact that you are trying to convince a guy who uses API and Neve and Avalon type preamps that the ART with a tube lamp in it isnt too noisy to use and stack tracks with is a laugh riot.

can you constantly be so wrong?

I said the project was a cheap product that would improve vocal recording and that it sounds better if you change the tube in it nothing more

Thats the only claims Ive made...and it is backed up but literally dozens of reviews in professional magazines, by users of the product, and by the very websites many of us buy our equipment from

Now again show me the returns you claim you can find and/or poor reviews on the ART project..

You havent because you cant...seriously give it up its just getting silly

My god, son; for someone who claimed a while ago that they wanted this thread to die, your shocking it back alive with the paddles every couple of minutes sure ain't helping none.

Guys, just let this kid have the last word so this crap stops floating at the top of our thread lists, huh?

G.

yup I just post here myself, I would have let the bone go pages before except for Dipshit_h2000's constant haranguing...and I quit being a kid many moons ago old man

I wouldnt want to let the boy think that he is right just because I stopped posting...besides he could be looking on Ebay right now for a Mullard or Telefunken 12au7 that is just going to make a more expensive light bulb in a pre that doesnt even pass signal through it...and we dont want to have to read about how it magically made it less crappy:rolleyes:

Links? reviews? returns? cave?

< cough >

Edit: apologies about the time thing, If you are indeed paralysed in one hand I'll be careful with my quips..

Thats no big deal...I really am trying to give some good advice here though...some would have said to just use the search function...there are alot of people who buy this piece and alot of people that gave advice like mine.

The best advice I could give to the OP I gave earlier...untill you can afford stuff that is good quality...just spend that money on studio time...then use their U87...API 512...and tuned room to finish that project...then save for good stuff when you want to own your own mic and pre...you dont save any money buying twice the equipment...it only cost you more.
