If I have a chain of stompboxes and I hook one up to a power adapter does it power the other pedals?

only if it has a seperate plug for each pedal you have. You can't just plug one in and get power for all of them.

No reason for sarcasm imo.
No, the 1/4" cables between your pedals are NOT carrying power, you need to plug each one individually, or use a multi pedal power brick.
