Bluesmeister, my wife views my Gibson LP as the "other woman". She knows I love it far more than I should do:D

OMG, I love my new (almost) noiseless PC! My recordings sound so much better (cleaner!) now...woohoo!

Can't stop thinking about replacing my Maxtors for silent Seagate Barrucuda's...

Can't stop thinking about replacing my Maxtors for silent Seagate Barrucuda's...

I have both but I must say that I can't tell the difference between them. They both seem fairly silent to me.

Its my case fan that is the worst culprit:(

Go for Zalman, Paul! ;)

Do you have the new, silent, Barrucuda's? Because they recently updated them with a silent version...

Read all about it at http://www.quietpc.com (can't remember where it exactly, but it's somewhere on the page)

But this seems convenient too: http://www.quietpc.com/uk/silentdrive.php. A lot easier, cheaper, and it reduces hard drive noise for over 90%....

Yep, I got the brand spanking new quiet version a couple of weeks back. But I can never understand why peeps say there is so much difference. My Maxtor seems just as quiet. For both of them, you have to get real close up to hear them operate.

make sure your drive doesn't run too hot, though

Got the Maxtor as the primary, and Seagate Barracuda as the secondary here. I can hear slightly the difference. Maxtor somehow a little bit noiser, but it's cooler than Seagate. And Seagate, eventhough quiter, it's more hot. At least in my case. But I didn't have any problem with 'em so far...

And 3.5 years here... 4 years in Nov 15...

No...

Not Maxtor and Seagate...

Me and Miss Argo... :)

Hey that CNPS700-cu, would it fit in my ASUS A7N8X motherboard with an ATHLON XP 2200+ chip? I was speaking to a guy at PC Club in Tacoma and he told me that it would not fit the XP 2200? He said that the chip did not have the correct mounts on it, he tried to use that fan on his and could not do it. I went to the ZALMAN web site and it did not list the XP 2200+ chip or A7N8X mother board as "not compatible" with the CNPS700?
All you guys that use this exact fan must be using P4's or something. HELP!!! Thanks!

I'm using a P4, yes. :)

Why don't you try to mail Zalman?

Say that the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu does not fit my Athlon XP 2200+, what is the BEST and QUIETEST cpu fan out there that WILL fit my Athlon XP 2200 CPU? Thanks! Peter ><>

That's cheap. Didn't know they even existed that cheap! :o

Anyway, I'm happy with my Zalman!

Hmm...it looks okay and is at a great price. But the Zalman looks like a real piece of engineering;)

I left my PC-case open, just to watch it...a wonderful sight, how it turns and turns and turns and how it cools my CPU and cools my CPU and cools my CPU....I can actually watch it all evening.....I love it. :D

Did that sound nerdy or what?

A thing of beauty is a joy forever......

Nerdy. Definately nerdy:p

Just ordered a Silent Kit for my harddisk. I discovered most of the noise came from the one that's in the 5.25" bay...the other is almost unnoticeable.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Btw, this is the last I'll invest into this noisefree PC stuff. I'm in a desperate need for a steelstring guitar!

They (the company) refused to send the harddisk Silent Kit (my disc is too fast/hot) :(

Paul881....just to be sure....did you have this Seagate?
