hey there,

so i've recently moved all my gear into the room i plan on using for... im not sure yet, but i think i want to record in it.

that last picture is a rough drawing of the general situation of my stuff as of now from a bird's eye view.

Ok, so i've read through that acoustics primer page, and some other things on some websites. From what i can gather, "703/4/5" rigid fibreglass is what i need, and i need to cover it in fabric and put it where the walls meet in this room.

Before i go out and buy this stuff and get to work, i would just like to make sure i have the right idea. I have my computer, interface, and keyboard in here, as well as two guitars and an amp. Of course, all this stuff can be moved out or whatever, but what i had in mind was recording in this room as well as operating pro tools once its recorded and in the computer. Is this taboo not a great way to go about things?

I'm new to this stuff and open to criticism and advice of course, but i'd love some insight onto how i could go about dealing with sound treating my room specifically, based on those pictures i supplied, and i can take some more upon request too.

thanks alot,

joe

Can't really help with the rest of the stuff but you'll want to put the monitors at ear level.

You can record & mix in the same room - no probs as long as you either treat the room or know the room well enough to compensate - the former is easier but not easy.
Go to the real traps site & download their test tones & graph use them to suss out some of your room's issues so that you can attempt to treat them.
Oh, &like TripleJ says: bring the monitors down to your ear level as in the height of your ears WHEN MIXING.
