I set one to Master, run the midi cable "out" to the "in" of the slave machine. When I hit "play" on the master machine, the slave machine doesn't start. Any help out there?

Check the frame rate, that they are the same on both machines.

;)

JR's right. Set one to Master & the other to Slave.

Then make sure they're both on the same frame rate.

[I thought the M/S setting was obvious, so I glossed over it]./DA

Thanx JR.

I've never had the opportunity to sync two FD's, but I've synced the FD-4 to the Tascam 564, so I know it can be done.
Check your settings & keep trying.

;)

FWIW, I like the Fostex FD's, and have considered getting another one. If one is good, then two must be better, eh?
That's my reasoning, anyway.;)

FD8's rule. Blow that damn toy they call the MR8 out of the water.

:D ;) :p

I've synced mine up to 2 pc's, a drum machine, and a synth. Syncing concepts are pretty much the same regardless of device.

Oh yeah, FD's RULE, and stomp the MR8, pitifully, all the way.

;)

Thanks Dudes,
I'm 99.9% sure one is Master, the other Slave. What frame rate should it be set at? I'll re-check next time I'm at the machines. I'm busy with "life" right now, but thanks much for your help. I let you know what I find out- AND PROBABLY BEG FOR MORE HELP!

Also, does it matter whether I'm formatted at "Master" setting, or "Normal?"
