OK, this may be staring me in the face, but I'm just trying to download and transfer material from cassette tape to my computer, so I can either import as WAV or MP3 for download to the internet or access for re-production in my studio (re-record as digital on a Tascam 2488 Neo). I was originally using a cheap Behringer interface (UCA222) and it worked well enough for my purposes, but it was extremely crappy quality and died in just a short amount of time. I now have a Tascam US-125M which has more features and functions and is better quality, but the problem is that by the time it gets to my PC (I'm using Audacity) the signal is no longer stereo, just mono. Doesn't matter whether I use an RCA connection or the USB, it's still just mono. When I monitor the signal from the interface itself it's fine and in stereo, but for some reason it's NOT stereo when it gets to the PC/Audacity. Never had this problem with the cheap Behringer, so I know it's possible or they wouyldn't bother to have stereo connections. I'm an old-school analog guy, so I don't do a lot with computer recording and only have the Audacity as software, but it worked before so I know it's doable. Thanks so much for any help you can give ... much appreciated.

Does your Audacity Device Setup look like the attached?
Naturally the name of the device will not be M-A Delta....!

If you cannot get Audacity to present with a stereo recording option you may have something screwed in Windows Audio Devices.

I am however a little surprised at you experience of the Behringer interface?
If it died, ok it died but yours would be the first one I have heard of that did!
However, I am more concerned when you say the sound quality was bad? I have had two UCAs and both were quite good...WAY better than built in soundcards. They don't have a lot of headroom, never drive them harder than neg 6!

Bottom line tho, at $30 or so they are well good enough for tape duping duty.

Dave.
