Hi this is my first post here my name PK da Silva. I wanted to share with you something I did while back with my ex-girlfriend. Absolutely no MIDI quantization was used :D nor any kind of warping or corrections. I challenge you to send something similar...

OK it didn't allow me to publish the link to the song yet, since this is the first post and 5 needed... :( I thought this would be a cool entry but I blew it :(

I'll post something intelligent first and then get back here... :D

Um, since when did the use of MIDI quantization become the norm?

I have about 40 tunes, most of which I've posted here. I didn't use MIDI, quantization, "warping", "corrections" or anything else other than real instruments being played by a human being (if I dare call myself that). So have most people that frequent this place. What's the big deal?

My guess is that he makes electronic music. Which depending on the genre/tempo and techniques used could actually be quite a challenge to do without any quantization/correction/time shift stuff.

Not to many folks making techno around here.

That's cool. What he does might be challenging in it's own way, and doing it without quantizing, etc... might be quite an accomplishment. It's the "I challenge you to do the same" that I found a little presumptuous.

I'm with Rami. I don't even know what MIDI or quantizing is. I'll go all-human, all-real-instruments, no-funny-trickery upside his head all day long.

Bring it, newb. :D

Man, I am pretty sure I would fail this challenge...I would be totally lost without my warp-drive.

I use MIDI to compensate for my terrible musical memory. After I compose, I can print out the score of what I just played :o

Then I rerecord the part to a click, with a real instrument. Usually heavily edited, but no warp or quantize :o

come o guys dont scare the kid... i wanna see what he finds impressive... perhaps it is... maybe for reasons other than he thinks....

I agree. It might be great, for all we know. But if the comments scared him away, it doesn't take much. He challenged "us" to do something that most of us already do and we let him know that. Nobody was trying to discourage him from posting his music.
