Hi all,

I figured out my problem. I have another question for you all. What is the best dound card I can get?

I want to know what all of you are using I do not like my SB and I know its best to have ASIO hardware any suggestions?

If possible a best quiality one a middle quality one and a you can get by with this kind of one. My concern is of course latency. And when I record vocals and live instrument want it to be good clarity and sample rate:)

Thanks!!

If you also need pre-amps along with the soundcard you can do what I did and get the Aardvark Q-10. It has 8 analog and two digital inputs as well as MIDI input/output. 4 of the inputs also have phantom power and 2 more have Hi-Z inputs for direct guitar recording. The preamps are great sounding and it's a tight unit. My latency runs at 2 ms currently. You can piggyback up to 4 units together so it has expandablity. It's gotten great reviews in trade mags, but it is on the spendy side, you can get it for about $750-800 on sale. Suggested retail is $999

You can check out it's specs at www.aardvarkaudio.com

maybe you should specify what you need in your soundcard, so people could help you more efficiently...do you need midi i/o...do you need digital i/o??? how many i/o and all that sort of stuff...
I'm using a delta 44..i don't need midi i/o so it works for me..Delta has 4 ins 4 outs (analog)...but yeah...specify your requirements and people will be able to help you a bit more

Thanks!!

I should be more specific although I liked the Aardvark but maybe a little more then I need. I have a usb keystation so I am not sure what I need. This is what I want to record.

Midi tracks (absynth)
Guitar
Vocals
Possibly live drums but I am not sure. Really just a drum troupe of middle eastern rythms but so far I think I might reserve that for later or just live. I will be mixing down to DAT.

I will only probably need 1 or 2 analog inputs at the most. Is this enough info? I appreciate all the help and advice you guys can give me on what sound card I should get. I want to get my latency down to 7 or below if possible.

I have a sound blaster Audigy but have recently updated to a Delta 44. Its the best decision I've ever made.

this is now a 2011 post. I am looking for a soundcard that will control VSTs or play them back fine with no issues. Been looking at the fast track ultra and the Tascam 1800 or 800. will these play the vsts back fine, i know my old elit pro worked flawlessly problem i had with that is it died. So i am looking for a card that will do that plus have 4 ins or even 6, i can play a guitar or bass so, to have the extra support for friends who wish to record is allways a plus
