***no midi (please help)

well, I acknowledged the problem of having no midi when I realized that I no longer had a sound for my metronome. This whole thing just came about one day. I also have a midi keyboard, but that'll only work I found out if the midi outs are on something other than (midi port), for example (midi synth a). However, if that's set up then the damn metronome still doesn't work. There has to be a way to have all midi, metronome included, working while using (midi port). Any suggestions, I already re-installed the damn program. Needless to say, that accomplished nothing.

Do you have some more information about what program you're using (SONAR or HS2002) and what soundcard?

Looks like your using a SB Live... And please list what MIDI-devicec can be found under your Options -> Midi Devices...

It sounds to me like you just need to arrange them...

Ebicaneezer,

When you set your MIDI outs to your MIDI port, it is going to the MIDI out on your sound card. If it's a SB Live, that is usually the Joystick port. You can but Joystick port -> MIDI cables.. Cakewalk even have a MIDI starters pack which has one in it. This required an external MIDI Device, wether it be a keyboard, sound canvas or drum machine to produce the sound. If you want that recorded you will need to route the output's of that to the audio card's in. When you set you MIDI output to MIDI Synth A, it uses the Audio cards on-board Synthesiser, the sounds are created on the audio card.

I think you misunderstood the 'MIDI PORT'. It doesn't create the sound, it's gives you the ability to use an external output to create the sound.

Have you played around with the Edirol VSC?
