I have a few old cassette tapes I'd like to record through the line input of my computer - my "hi-fi" only has an earphone out, I usually just record digitally, and they're only a few old tapes. Is there anything that'll let me stick the earphone out into my computers line in? The quality doesn't have to be great (the old tapes aren't good anyway) but cheap is really helpful! Presumably normally there would be a signal level and impedance mis-match?

Thanks,

Try it - adjust volume to a suitable level so that it doesn't distort - it should work alright. You should be able to find the appropriate connectors/cables from Radio Shack (I can't tell you 'cos I don't know what kinds of gozintas and gozoutas you're working with!)

You can do this fairly easilly. Pick up an 1/8th inch STEREO patch cable. It will ook jst like a guitar cable but with the small ends. Be sure it is stereo though or life will be mono. Radio shack (bless their marketing souls) should hook you up for a whole $5.
