I still cant convert to mp3 in stereo..not working
that stinks

i finally figured out the problem..

Ive been doing somthing new... recording a track in stereo..
Well... on all the stereo tracks besides the drums the right channel was 90% weaker than the left. So now I have to convert every track to mono and then mixdown in stereo.

I wonder if im just wasting my time/space recording stereo tracks

it depends on what you are trying to record to see if you need stereo

If from a mic and its one mic, then definitely mono

If its line in and only one line, then mono again

if its a stereo piano from a synth or something that makes use of the stereo fields, like choir aahs, then stereo

sorry sabbath.. im fixing the stereo problem... then I'll repost it.

Cyan... say you have the stereo recording of the synth usually the other channel is considerably weaker. I cant seem to pan within a stereo track. Would you know?

I was just looking at my settings and by default my stereo L/R plugs coming out of my keyboard are panned hard left and right. and then when they go into the Delta inputs there being panned again. What a confusing chain... I must figure this out.

Do you know if everything should be centered coming into the Delta and then start panning from there?

Negative on panning them to the center. If you have a true stereo source (discreet left and right information) You would want your recorder/recording software to be panned hard left and right also to preserve that discreet information.

hmmm.. interesting Trackrat ..Ill remember that ..thanks!!

I think I got her working now..

Hey Trackrat..

Ok say everything stays panned through the chain all the way to the A/D converter. What if every stereo track I record has 90% volume on left side and 10% on the right... That doesnt sound too good to listen to. I guess that is where im confused.

You're right about that, it wouldn't sound too cool. But then again, you wouldn't want to record all tracks in stereo and on the ones that you do record in stereo, if they're lop sided in the sense that they're all heavy to one side, a couple of thoughts come to mind. The first is, somethings wrong. If you record say, a keyboard in stereo, I wouldn't imagine that it would be 75% left and 25% right info. Now if it was and I was convinced that that's the way it was supposed to be, I'd take any additional tracks that were like this and re-pan them so that pass #1 is 75% left and 25% right, pass #2 is 75% right and 25%left and so on to try and build some symmetry, ya know what I mean? Also things like bass or secondary parts I would not record in stereo as these I'd either be panning to the center or to the left or right a bit. None of this is an absolute truth as there are none in music anyway but just the way I approach a song. YMMV.

dude, I tried again .. I right clicked, I left clicked, nothing....

Put it on Nowhere or Mp3.com or something..

Hay JMarcomb, ever listen to Phil Keaggy? It reminds me of some of his stuff on On The Fly. But then again I'm crazy.

No sorry hoky .. I dont know Phil.

ITs kinda like a dream. You elaborate a small part of your day into something you can relate to. I do it all the time.

:) nah your not crazy, your a human

Not bad at all. I like the delay effect on the lead guitar. Nice groove. Good stuff.
