Hi guys! New here, but not to recording.
I'm doing my first modern hard rock recording this winter. It's gonna have some big distorted guitars. Tone question:
Personally, I don't like guitars getting too fat. Like the bass to cover that area. I tried recording direct with my Line 6 spider...can't get rid of the low end. Tried american metal pedal...no amp tone. I have a DI driver..better,how do you get a bright, fuzzed distortion tone directly that has "life" to it...like an amp would give?

Try Guitar Rig 4, it's one of the only guitar amp/pedal modelers around that i think sounds good. I use it as a plugin in Reaper, works like a charm!

today there are a handful very useful guitar plugs around...for me the combination of logics amp designer, guitar rig and waves' gtr is working awesome.

can only recommend waves' gtr, especially for beginners.

Thanks! The studio devil is awesome, but Sonar won't use it! It's there in Steinburg wavelab, but thats just for mastering.

Anybody have an idea how to get SONAR to use those wavelab plug-ins?
