I attended a recording engineer's lecture and demonstration of mic'ing and recording flute a while back, several Grammy awards for different projects. He was real high on the Equitek mic for the flute, and I picked one up, new on Ebay.
I have plugged it into the preamp of the UA-5 (phantom power applied) and recorded a number of samples of voice and flute. What I have noticed is that I get very low volume unless I am right on top the mic.
So I am perplexed. Perhaps this is not quite as plug and play as I might have hoped.
I scanned the specs pages from both the UA-5 and the Equitek: link
Any help? Not enough gain on the preamp? How do I match these two components up?
Thanks for your help
