Hi all,
I'm new to home recording (though not new to playing guitar) so no doubt you've heard this before ...

I'm trying to record directly using a Sonicfury soundcard and Voyetra Digital Orchestrator, win98. I've got a Tanglewood acoustic with a built in preamp (of sorts) and I'm possibly lookingto use my Ibanez electric with its Boss GT3 pedal array in the future. Starting with the acoutic, I'm trying to link it direct to the line in socket on the soundcard using a standard lead with a 1/4 to 1/8 adaptor on the end. Dead as a dodo & I've been through all the permutations I can think of. Do I have to get a mixer or am I missing something? I had thought the preamp in the acoustic would have at least got some response from the PC software.

Any offers? Thanks for your patience & understanding.

Pete

hello Pete...the line IN your sonicfury card may be expecting the signal to come from a "powered" source such as a few volts from a mic that has it's own power supply...does your card have one or two INs?...if it has two, one of them is probably wired for mono input and only this one can be used when sending "one" line IN...
check your card's manual to see exactly what kinds of signal(s) you can use...when you say "permutations", I assume you mean that you've told your computer exactly how to route the signal at the IN of your sound-card?...if your system has DirectX plug-ins/software, do a serach for DxDiag--a utility that will show your current set-up and which drivers and programs are up and running--check for incompatabilities...there should also be a test or two you could perform to verify the signal path and to verify your hardware's performance--check various settings, such as the sample-rate, to ensure that your software settings and capabilities match your hardware settings/capabilities...this should give you a starting point until some better advice comes along.
