Ok, I'm really starting to get into recording on my computer, starting to build a mic collection and learn some stuff. My Question...........WHAT IS MASTERING. ?????? I have some ideas (I think) but I really know nothing about it for sure.

How does it work??? What do I do?? Is it by the individual track or on a single mixed down wave?? Does Cakewalk Sonar have this type of cabability?? What is the end result?? I dont know what other questions to ask but any info or links to good info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. BJ

Blue Bear, are you the one around here that does mastering?

If so could you please email me at chuckray@cox.net
or message me on aim at o0Sickle0o

I have a few questions... (not questions on how to do things... questions on obtaining possibly you to master my music for whatever price)

Actually - I don't do formal mastering as such.... I can do *some* pseudo-mastering-like tweaking, but my place is not set-up as a proper mastering house....

However Sjoko is definitely equipped for it - and I beleive sonusman is too........

Mastering is a process in which Your cd or tape is limited and sometimes compressed if the sound is too loud. It inclues normalizing(where it boost all your tracks up to one peak like 0db, so they all have the same loudness) They sometimes eq the song if it is too muddy or bassy or whatever, then they do fade ins and fade outs and then they put the finished product on cd or dat and ship it back to you. Diskmakers do mastering and their prices are ok. www.diskmakers.com
