I am sort of a newbie in the midi world. I am trying to record a piano part from a midi keyboard (roland digital piano) into a mdid sequencer (Power Tracks Pro Audio). the midi input is on my Terratec EWX 24/96 soundcard. I wanted to use the metronome on the sequencer to keep my many punches (NOT a piano player) at the same tempo, but in order to hear the metronome, I have to use the midi instruments on the built-in sound card (SoundMax digital audio wavetable). When I play to the notes on the keyboard, there is like a half-second delay before the sound comes out of the computer! then when I am punching in, the metronome is WAY off from the notes already recorded. Is there something I can do to sync the physical striking of the keys to the sounding of the instrument in the wavetable? If not, how do folks record this way (step fashion with metronome)? I have been sending the midi back to the keyboard, that way the the notes are in time... but then I have no metronome.

Any help appreciated.

Why can't you monitor from the soundcard and directly from the keyboard at the same time?
