Newbie Question about loops

I downloaded a wav file sample that is a vibraphone sound.
When I opened it in soundforge there was a section marked off toward then end of it as 'Sustained Loop '
What is this and how does it work ?

Here's my basic definition for you. A "sustained loop" is a portion of a WAV file that loops to create sustain. For example, if you import that vibe file into a sampler you can press a key and it will sustain until you release the key.

As you can see the file you have is short, probably less than 3 or 4 seconds. But with a "sustained loop" you could virtually have it play for an hour just by holding a key.

Very basic, but hopefully will help you.

well...

The floppy drive doesn't read anymore - i need to invest in an external hard drive or zip drive - I'm kinda wary to buy anything off ebay for my mpc2000 - but maybe I should. ??? I do have paypal - lol
This akai is becoming more obsolete everyday.

Is there a way i can tr yout that sustained loop in my comp ?
Just to hear it - mess around with it ?

You can pick up a used Zip drive for real cheap, compared to using floppies you will love it. Only thing is certain things (such as OS updates and *.pgm imports) have to be imported via floppy.

I don't know about the MPC, but the S2000 uses the same floppy drives as Commodore Amigas, which are easy to find and wouldn't cost you more than $20.

Sure, but you'll need a VSTi or DXi sampler. This will work the exact same way I described for the MPC.
