I'm currently finishing my basement and I have a room that will be for my home recording. I'm excited! Let me know what you think about the design. I am fixed to the 13 x 14 dimensions, but it’s better than what I have now. The ceilings will be 8 foot and I plan on doubling the walls with 5/8 drywall. I wasn't sure about the vocal area but I really want a room where I can achieve great recordings and be away from the computer noise.

I plan to record guitar, bass, keyboard, midi, and vocal tracks. I will be doing some spoken recordings for local preachers. If I need to do drums later on, I will have to beg my wife to give up the exercise room. But that's later.

Thanks for any input.

Not bad cotton, that's one thing i wish i'd done is make my control room bigger, and the live room smaller. I've got the space for the vocal/amp booth, but i just haven't closed it in yet, post some pics when you get finished, i'd like to see it .

ps, here's a link to my studio site, look under the construction link, it may give you a few ideas.

By the way

I have changed my mind about the walls and I am going to use the z channel mentioned on John's site. Although I have run into a problem with that because I can't seem to find any z channel at my local home depot. Where can I buy this stuff? Any suggestions on sliding glass doors? Brand names?

They stock RC at my local home depot in 12 ft. lengths.
