Hi. New to recording, and need advice.
I have no experience and very little knowledge of recording. I'm currently using this website and a few others as my source. My main goal is to record vocals. Not myself, but others ( family and friends). I have an empty closet (not walk in closet) that i can use as a booth, but i'm think of just building a vocal box around my mic.

My current equipment:
- Macbook 2.4 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, etc....
- Logic Pro 8
- Presonus Firebox via firewire
- Rode NT1000 Condenser Mic
- Monster Audio Cable
- Mic stand
- Pop Filter

Questions:
- Are there any more "must have" equipments that i still need to purchase?
- Is my macbook capable of recording and mixing tracks?
- Any advice for my current situation regarding my vocal booth?

Again i'm new and not very knowledgeable with recording so i apologize in advance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

your Mac is very capable and you seem to have collated all the right equipment you'll need apart from the proofing of your booth...but someone will be along to help you with that advice

welcome to the site btw :)

I dont see any monitors on your list. How are you listening back?
My suggestion would be to buy the nicest monitors you can afford for mixing and buy a cheap set of closed back headphone for listening while doing over dubs.

So, recording just vocals?

ah yeah monitors lol

Thats why I gave up my job as a detective :)

Hey, thanks you guys.

I'm currently using some regular Logitech speakers, but would you guys recommend any good monitors? Something not that pricey, but good quality (if something like that exist). I'm planning on upgrading to better equipment next year if everything goes good.

Thanks again...

So, like singing just acapella? No backing music?

Normally I'd say budget min. $500 and something with an 8" driver, but for *just* vocals, you could probably get away with something less. If you are planning to upgrade other things, it might make sense to get a nice set now, so you dont have to replace them in a couple months. Otherwise, maybe you just get by with what you've got until you're ready to drop dough on a nice set...

Must haves? Monitors or headphones. Your Macbook is very capable.
As far as the closet goes...hang up some clothes or heavy blankets, put the mic up amoungst them and sing.
