Newbie help :)

So i recorded some song,
and the song was too quiet.
So i used the Vintage compressor ( in cubase) to volume it up, and it was fine.
but sometimes the volume just pop out and i had this red thing (i think you all know what i mean).
How do i solve this problem?

The red thing means something is clipping - you need to turn your track and possibly master volumes down. The output is too high and it is causing the frequencies to distort. You can solve this by turning all the track volumes down the same amount (maybe 2-4 dB) and adjusting the master volume to a non-clipping level. This will give you a little bit of "headroom". Don't worry about if the master is loud enough right now - that can all get fixed in the mastering phase.
