Hi everyone!

I'm getting ready to start some home recording - I'm a guitarist/songwriter and I want to put together some demo stuff and learn how to record and mix. This my current setup:

Les Paul Classic
Marshall DSL401 amp
Vox AC30 amp
Apple iMac with OS 10.3

I'm planning on buying Apple's GarageBand software tomorrow. My questions are:

What else do I need? Do I need to buy an interface, or should I just do it through a mic that's going directly into the computer?

Any advice you all could give would be fantastic!

If I were you I would get Cubase SE-$99. I'm not sure how good it is with gutairs though. You should get an audiophile 2496-$99 and an sm57 mic-$89.

Get it from www.sweetwater.com for uner $300.

AC-30 really

Cubase is a good program to start with. You should look for a used motu-828 mk II a very good quality unit. And oh ya do you really own an Origanal AC-30? I love that !

haha... no that was a mis-type (early morning post). It's an AD-30 hybrid... still screams but it doesn't have that Brian May tone that the real AC30 has. My Marshall DSL401 is a real-deal JCM2000 all tube combo but it's on its way to the shop because something blew on it :-(
