this is question 2.

question3::

i have friends who are mixing and mastering for job

and the honest is the first thing to monitor speaker.

but there is no genelecs in recommended list in here.
cause it is NOT honest? or it is not feel greate to listen,

i dont care good to listen or not .

i want honest monitor.(has flat response)

thank you... please answer me~~

p.s do you know the website there are many reviews and lecture about equipment??

I like my KRK V8s........ but they aren't for everyone.... you really have to choose monitors that suit YOU - not ones your friends think you should get.

i have the msp 5s.they do the job well.good bang for the buck.

What Blue Bear said: it's you that listens to the speakers, not your friend.

Jay0u: where are you from ? Genelec isn't too popular on this board because they're too expensive in the States. In Europe their price is ... well... better ;) .

I have 1031's andabsolutely love them. Mackies are fav's on this board, but actually they cost at leastas much as my set of monitors... it's a question of import/export and taste.

Try out Genelec and KrK ... they're two different horses and most of the people that like one don't like the other.

Hope this helps,
Herwig

hm.

hi~im from south korea.

in here almost every equipment is so expensive than u.s.a
maybe cause shippment vavlues and taxes

for example rme multiface and pci card---1250$(iam gonna buy this from usa dealer.)

yamaha msp5-650$

but genelec and truth. as same as u.s.a

i dont think price is not the reason why genelec is popular in my country.

in here every equipment is expensive==;;;

DEADPOET:do you know the place in the web from europe that sell genelecs?

Yep, taxes and shipping kill prices... Some friends of mine were in Taiwan a few years ago and the drummer wanted to buy a snare (I guess it was Pearl, anyway, some brand made in Taiwan). The snare drum costed as much there as it costs here because after it leaves the factory it gets shipped to the states and then back to Taiwan !!

jay: if you want to buy on the internet, check your local import rates or you will be in for a very unpleasant surprise!!

Genelec prices throughout Europe don't vary that much. Maybe you could try second hand (eBay) ...

Good luck,
Herwig

ye.,,,shippment.

years ago. i wanna buy some synth from sweatwatwer

but with shippment and taxes it is almost same as price in here.

so i give up haha...

only kuzweil is the pruduct i can buy cheaper.

but buying small and light thing still have advantage.

so. iam gonna buy rme multiface.~

thank you~

hi jay,

I know what you mean, I've been to Seoul 3 times and always visit Nak-wan-san-ka (Instrument complex)... most of the imported are expensive, even more expensive than Malaysia!

I have MSP5, and really like them.... they're a bit timid on the low-end and would not be nice for RAP/HipHop.. (Hiphop is big in Korea, ;) )

If I can choose again, I may settle for KRK... but for the price for us Asian, Yamaha should be the best buy.

I am not a fan of the Yamaha's - NS10's are not what I would call "honest" as you put it. They are good to check mixes on to see what they will sound like on home stereo systems, and a lot of people know their sound because a lot of pro studios have them, so they like mixing on something they know.

I tried out the yamaha monitors up to MSP10's when I was monitor shopping - they paled in comparison to the Yorkville YSM-1p's which I got. I'm in New Zealand and gear is expensive here too! You should definitely try out a lot of different types and see what you like. Genelecs are great, but expensive here (too expensive for me!). If the yamahas work for you, that's great, but to my ears they were very lacking in bass. Also, when you look at the spec sheet for the quoted frequency response in their advertising leaflets, the cutoff points are at -10dB, while for the yrokvilles it's at -3dB. Which means that in reality, the bass response is even worse than what they quote...

Buy'em if you like 'em, but beware

Steve
