I have been interested in doing field binaural recordings and would love some feedback from you guys. Currently I am using a handheld Tascam recorder, a set of Sound Professional binaural mics and Adobe Audition for post processing. It is quite a bear of a program!! Fortunately I have done a fair amount of digital photography and have spent many many hours manipulating digital images with Photoshop. There seem to be quite a few parallels between digital photography and editing sound. However Audition is nothing at all like Photoshop!!!

It's funny how our kids’ activities seem to guide our hobbies ... My oldest played Football so I found myself deeply entrenched in photography and took thousands of football pics. Now my two youngest are in the band... so now I am trying to master field recording.

It would be great if some of you could audition a few snippets of my first school band concert recording and offer some feedback. Specifically, the post processing - or actually anything!!! Also, since these are binaural recordings, they are best auditioned on headphones. Here is a link to to the set - The high school songs are best. NOTE: I recorded this while sitting among all the kids and parents in the auditorium. I wish there was a way to eliminate some of the background noise- like coughing and rustling. I tried to heal a good bit of the distractions but there are still a fair number of undesirable distractions embedded in the recordings. I guess using directional mics would help but I would like to pursue the binaural recording technique. Thank you in advance for listening and feed back!!!!
