Ok i just want to lay my vocals over a hip hop beat(rap). I dont even know what mixing is but is that what mixing is? Putting lyrics over a beat? Well anyways does anybody have a link to a mixing tutorial for adobe audition? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Canibus -

I shifted your post over to the mixing forum, cuz I think you'll get a better response to your post here. I think you don't need a tutorial on how to use Audition so much as a tutorial on the basics of mixing. I'll start.

To mix well, you need to know how to do a few things:

* Listen closely to what you've recorded.

* Know how to EQ

* Listen closely to what you've tweaked

* Possibly compress this or that track

* Listen closely a few times to how the mix is sounding

* Add effects, reverb in particular

* Listen closely to the mix

* Put the mix on the shelf for anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

* Listen closely again after that time and do any last minute tweaks.

so i should use that link above? previewed it but it seemed a little short. if anyone has anymore links. please post em.

yuou will learn alot from a short article pack full of good info then reading a longer article..pay close attention to the charts..

No prob; alliteration can be quite useful for rap lyrics, when not overused. :cool:
