Hello, I currently purchased a USB MIDI Cable Not sure if it was a good buy exactly because of its no name brand, but what attracted me was the cheap price. ha. anyway i've been using propellerhead's Reason 3.0 for quite some time now, getting tired of "penciling" in the rythm and notes for my sequences, so i bought this product hoping to solve the problem. I borrowed a friends Casio CTK-601 in which i am trying to connect my vista computer. Upon plugging in the components my computer doesn't recognize the device (who woulda guessed?) and the red light happens to light up. everything is connected properly. i've tried to have reason find it, but when i hit a key (while reason is searching for it w/e w/e) it doesn't respond to it.

I've looked for a couple hours now to find an answer and a solution. All of which lead me further into a fustration of unsatisfaction.

With that i ask for help. Can anyone help a noob? Or have suggestions.

Any and all help is apperciated. thanks!

edit: can't post a link to the usb midi cable cause im under five posts :( hah

Are you sure your Midi Interface is Vista Compatible?? there isn"t wide Driver support for Vista yet so that is why I am mentioning it....

:D

in Reason, go to Edit -> Preferences -> MIDI and make sure the keyboard is there and selected.

then, on the left side of your arrange window (where you usually "pencil in" the notes) click on the left hand side of the instrument you want to use (by the instrument name). a circular icon with a few dots in it should appear. this means that instrument will now accept MIDI input. you can only have one instrument accepting MIDI input at a time

yeah, i'm pretty sure i got one vista compatible.

thanks i'll try it when i get home!

K this is the part i have had trouble with, i don't have any of those keyboards so i choose other and select a more specific type of keyboard, when it says hit a key or w/e to find it. it simply doesn't work/find my keyboard. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

can you download the drivers from Casio? if they don't have Vista drivers, you can try the XP drivers. if that doesn't work....well, you're just SOL.
