Well, I got a GuitarPort a while back (sweet little piece of equipment), and I finally got around to replacing all the electrics in one of my songs with GuitarPort tracks. The electrics were previously done on a Line6 POD v1.1, but I don't have that original recording on the net.

It's called "It Covers Me". You can listen here: http://www.acidplanet.com/components/playfile.asp?PID=514897&T=1406

Or go to http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=261004&T=735 and listen to the song.

Let me know what you think of the guitars/vocals/production/if you think the song is cool or it sucks/etc.

Let's see, here's how I did it:

Vocals: Studio Projects C1
Guitars: PRS SE Soapbar II -> GuitarPort (most of the settings on the GP were based on the Vox AC30 model)
Acoustic: Takamine FD-360sc mic'd with a pair of MXL 603s's
Bass: Some Yamaha bass straight in
Drums: "Drums on Demand" loops - volume 1

All this into a PreSonus FirePod and recorded with Cubase.

Fire away!!

Everything sounds like it is panned too much toward the center. You need to create a sense of space. The vocal delay is too fast and you need much less of it. The drums should come in alot sooner to make the song less boring.

Thanks to both of you for the comments!

I'm trying to work with panning a bit more - so I'll see what I can do. Something always seems "almost but not quite" right about the delay on the vocal. I'll try and tweak it a bit.

Thanks again

another bump. . .

What do you all think of the GuitarPort (or, rather - my use of the GuitarPort)? I'm really wanting to get a POD XT Live, then I can sell my old POD and the GuitarPort and have one thing that does it "all".
