any af12 and windows 7 users please share your setup and experiences.
I purchased an af12 off cl and am not sure if its busted or if i just cant get it to work... I am pretty sure its busted and I didn't have the seller demo the device me = dumbass
After i bought the af12 I downloaded and installed the latest driver (5.7) from the website then plugged it in and this is what i am seeing:
The af12 is listed in the Device Manager under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers".
Bringing up the properties for the af12 from the Device Manager displays driver version: 5.7.0.0 from Echo Digital Audio. I also tried the 5.5.0.0 driver with no luck.
There is no listing of this device under Control Panel | Sound | Manage Hardware and also no listing for this device in Sonar.
First question is should see the af12 in my sound device manager? I am thinking so.
I am using the integrated firewire controller in my PC not a PCI card controller. The firewire/1394 controller is a TI IEEE 1394a controller which supports 2 x 1394a ports. I have no other 1394 devices connected.
The af12 must be on for it to list in the Device manager. If I turn off the af12 it disappears from the Device Manager.
Turning on the af12 the lights flash and then it ends up on 48 and INT.
After turning the af12 back on it does not show up in the Device Manager unless I reboot the PC with the af12 on during PC power up or I disable and then re-enable the 1394 controller from the Device Manager.
I have 3 drivers available for my firewire/1394 controller from the Device Manager:
1) 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller.
2) 1394 ONCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy).
3) Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller.
I have tried all 3 with the same results. All 3 show the af12 device user Sound, Video and Game Controllers" but none of the show the af12 in the Sound hardware manager.
Lets see, what else.... If I plug a guitar t into channel 1 on the af12, the signal meter for 1 inputs and 1 outputs show signal, although there is some latency between playing a note on the guitar and seeing the signal meter go up. Latency is ~0.5 seconds.
When the af12 device is on and listed in the Device Manager the FireWire Analyzer application will open.
The Echo firewire console application does not launch. An icon is displayed in the taskbar but left clicking on it does nothing and right clicking on it only show the exit menu item.
Any insight on what you see and how it is listed would be helpful. thanks!
