I have some TC outboard hardwarealready, so I didn't see any reason to go with duplicate capabilities on the DSP side of things... I also liked the UAD's Realverb implementation, with its preset-morphing capabilities- still do. But
the LA2A and 1176 have a lot of applications, too, as does their funky channel strip thing. Then Nigel came out, and now the Pultec- these guys just have a lot of noises I like, and they add the new one for free... They are basing their design decisions on gear and philosophies I understand. After all, I'm an old analog knobtwister.
Having said that: I still have a slot or two open, and I *might* grab the Powercore one day if I can get it cheaply. If the PSP guys ported
VintageWarmer and their other plugins to it, that'd also move me to get one instantly. But
the UAD-1 won in my world as the first DSP engine to try out. Your mileage may vary.
I gotta get the PSP folks to talk to these guys, either group will do. Just imagine all that horsepower available for VintageWarmer, which is hands-down my favorite current plugin...
