G'day,
I would love some critical feedback on a couple of songs i've just finished doing rough mixes of if anyone gets the chance?
The tunes i'd love feedback on (whether it be mixing, arrangement or anything that comes to mind) is 'The Wednesday Song' and 'Spinning Gold' which are on my myspace page www.myspace.com/mattburke5

On the weds song I know i've butchered the bass intro (guitar lowered an octave) as it is noisy as and i'm guilty as charged as trying to add some distortion to cover the crappniess.....

Note spinning gold's drums are computerised on one track so I can't really ajust the drum mix itself......

Gear: (I'm sure you probably could have guessed by now :) )
SM 57, Samson C0100 or something condenser.... > Behri 1202FX mixer, > motherboard's inbuilt soundcard.....Mixed etc in Audition 2.0.....Monitoring with computer speakers........Hopefully will be upgrading the gear soon if I can save enough money...At the moment its 'all about the music' haha......
Anyways any tips would be warmly welcomed and much appreciated.....
Cheers,
Matt

There guitars are good maybe even great. Vocals are very clear whatd you record them with? and how?

lol now you are no bass player we can all see that. you need to get yourself a bass player. your talented. your bass lines are a bit crazy at times. maybe even ridiculous.

But the production at the end is really good you droped the octave one lower of the guitar that was pretty cool and you like using different guitar effects. Its very good alot better then I expected when I first heard the crappy guitar bass :D.

GET YOURSELF A BASS PLAYER. or get a bass and practice practice practice!

actually I like the bass lines, (except as you mentiond the intro to the wednesday song) they mixes sound AMAZING considering your equip. the only thing I have is that maby you shouldn't of have panned the guitars quite so hard.

and with spinning gold, the little solo on the dist. guitar sounds like crap, might sound a bit better with a bit smoother dist, and maby a touch of verb, and personally, I prefer to have it panned to the right, but thats just my prefrance. but other than the dist. guitar, I love it.

hope this helps
