thanks Jake, for taking the time to listen. I doubled the guitar, and played another guitar track also. I missed some transitions.

I guess I forgot:

guitar and lead vocal....doubled....panned hard left and right

guitar no. 2 and 2nd vocal....panned 20% right

mando....panned 20% left

all tracked with V67 mic, thru a blue tube, into the 788

compressed the whole mix a little, for some volume

26 year old alvarez d-18 copy, capoed and played in D

michael kelley F-5 custom mando

natural lite beer, and some herb

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Carry me back to the good old days...
Carry me back to the good old ways....
Carry me back.......to the good old days...

that's where I wanna go.......

Damn Man.....
That is sweet...

need a bass track?

You make it sound easy man....
I wish I could record this well....ya know?

Good stuff man....
a few errant artifacts here or there...no big deal...ya know?
Take it easy Dan,
Joe

Beautiful track, man! I like.

Your voice reminds me so much of Cat Stevens! Are you him in cogneato? It's scary how close you are to him in voice and musical style.

Everything sound sweet and sitting well in the mix.

Nice mandolin too.

Cheers! :)

Very nice song but there is something missing. I think this song needs a bass part. My foot should be tapping with the music but there is nothing to tap to. A country-like bass line would give this a good sense of rhythm. The vocal sounds a little too quite as well. The mandolin could be played a little tighter but Im just nit-picking now!

thanks joe, yea got to get the kinks out.

Ghost, thanks again for listening, and your comments. And that's one performer that I wish was still in the mainstream of music.

tjohnson, just a demo track at this time. hopefully, this will turn into a full production, as in, being in tune, bass, etc. thanks for the listen.

Beautiful tune - Great music!

Very nice work!! Terrific songwriting - really makes you listen to all the lyrics. The voice is superb - really, really nice - blends well with the wooden instruments. Definitely worthy of the full-on production - and I'm anxious to hear it! F-5 Custom, eh? OK - I'm jealous now - must be a dream to play. (Nice tremolo by the way - I need to work on that - you inspired me - thanks!!)

Lovely Song

I would personally like a Bass guitar in there.
I find, with this non percussion music the Bass can assume the rhythmic duties that the drums would normally carry, IMO.
I like the song though:D

One more time

Your stuff is simply great. It's beautiful. I would probably drop the mandoling just a tiny bit, they overshadow the vocals in couple of spots. Not much--just a hair. The playing is so nice we still need to really hear it.

It could stay the way it is, I am being VERY picky

Milan, thanks man. It's NOT an expensive mando. But it is nice. I'd say as good or better than any under 1000.00. Check'em out sometime. www.michaelkellyguitars.com

Dan the man, absolutely will have bass. And I agree 100%. The bass is a must.

sloop, I hear it also.

Thanks for the listen guys, and the comments. It sure makes it easier to track and mix stuff.

Dan

Dan the man,
Nice work. I thought the playing and singing were really nice. The guitar and mando sounded very good recording wise. You definetely have a Cat Stevens thing happening. Nice. The vocals sounded a little off recording/miwise, but I can't put my finger on it. Distant? Maybe it's just a level thing or they are little dry. The doubling was nice.

Vey nice work Dan.

Note: there were some pops/clicks/mp3 artifacts especially early on in the tune.

Todd

More than a demo in my opinion Dan. The mix sounds great here, it might not have the polish of some glossy pro recordings, but the mix makes for a good final product for someone like myself who enjoys real recordings like this......not just a demo.

Have you heard any of the J.Garcia/Grissmon recordings? That is what this reminds me of.......

skids, I turn the shit on, and damn, turn a few knobs, smoke another fatty, drink another beer, and it comes out like this. what can I say?LOL, gotta track this one again.

thanks, my friend, for the listen and the comments.

pf, you read my mind. I've watched Grisman's (daughter, niece, cousin, wife, or whoever's) show on trio about a dozen times. The one with Grisman and Garcia recording tunz at Grisman's home. man, shit. get out.of here.

thanks again my friends.

Dan

I love this! Definitely has that Cat Stevens, or maybe even a little Jim Croce to it. You have an excellent voice for this kind of stuff.

This is a keeper for sure. Love the playing and the mix sounds very clear. I don't know if it is the MP3 or what, but there were a few "clicks" or "pops" during the song. I'm thinking it is either the mp3 or something on my end, not sure.

Love the mando on there. Also, some pretty great lyrics. Did you write this?

Great job all around!

:D

boydrj, thanks for the kind words. and yes, this is one of mine. I think it's the mp3, I listen to the disk some more and I can't hear the pops, clicks. It may be on the cd itself. I'll listen to that this morning. Thanks for the listen.
