I like the tune a lot. Real Hank meets Texas Playboys.

Nice recording.

My nit is with nuances of the bass guitar......13531353, 13531353......it needs to have a little work done on it to get some invention and melodic flow. And the notes are not held long enough....

The song has an implied swing. I can't hear hats playing the swing...all I can hear it the kit playing 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4, pretty much. Add that to the bass guitar playing sticatto, unerring triads...starting at the root....up and down, and it makes for a ploddy feel. Kind of a polka.

Some of the anticipations in the pedal steel, piano, and guitar? are picking things up...lending forward momentum....hitting the dotted eighths.

The tune is really close, I think.....just a dose of swing and flow and melody in the bass, and a swing feel that can be heard on the hats....and maybe grace notes on the snare once in a while, will set it down nice!

The words are great, and it's sung authentic-like. But I'd like to hear the phrasing loosened a little...more anticipations and swing to it....same problem as the bass and kit. Not much swing to it, as it is...and I think it needs to swing more.

But I love the tune!!!

I really liked the feel to the song.

Would you mind if I recorded some drums to see if I can spice this up a bit?
