New to the forum - been recording at home for 15 years

Hi all!

This is my first post, and I'm long overdue for joining this forum.

I bought my first 4-track when I was about 15 years old and have been teaching myself the art of recording ever since. I'm looking forward to tapping into the collective wisdom of this board!

My general setup right now is to record basic rhythm tracks on 4 track cassette, and then do additional overdubs and mixing in Cool Edit pro.

After using the same basic recording set up for many years, I am considering buying a digital portastudio (2488 Neo), in hopes of avoiding the hassles of computer-based recording.

Is it best to post my questions about the 2488 here in the newbie forum, or should I start a new post in the Tascam forum?

Welcome to the boards man, lots of great info here. Def start sifting through the stick-ied subjects in all the forums a lot of good stuff.
 
I bought a stand-alone recorder (Boss BR600) because I didn't want to deal with the hassles of computer recording. It got me started on the learning curve, at least .... Now its gathering dust.
