Im looking to get a digital 8-track recorder with a cd burner drive but I need to no something about these things.

m getting a condenser mic and everything for it but what I need to know is, is there a way for me to put the instrumental on the 8-track so I can record or how does it work?

No I am talking about if you have a beat or instrumental you want to put on the recorder to record to, can you put the instrumental on there by putting it on a cd and putting the cd in the drive and take the beat off

I don't know, my guess is yes...have you thought about using your computer though? might be easier and cheaper

and by the way, if you can't get the file off of the cd, just play it on a cd player and run a line into the recorder and record it

yeah man, if you want a daw (digital audio workstation) then you also better have a lot of time on your hands to read and understand what needs to be done, computer is prolly your best bet

i would definatly go computer in that situation cause unless your gonna fork out 2-3k for a really top notch DAW, you gonna have alot of limits on what you want to do. If your gonna be importing stuff like beats and midi souds and waht nots i would defanitly go with computer recording.

In the event you do not have a computer, please note you can get a very powerful one for the same price as your 8 track digital CD thingy....

Check out www.ibuypower.com for some smoking and quality systems for about 5 bills.

The dinky boss rigs are kids stuff. IMO

But to answer your question, yes you generally can rip the audio from CD, otherwise, as stated above, just run a line in from your player. Make sure your unit has a pre-amp or you have one before you rock the condesner.
