I'm trying to record drums in Nuendo. I have 6 mics on the kit going into channels 1-6 on a Mackie 1604. From the 1604 inserts, I'm going into inputs 1-6 on the Delta. When I record, tracks 1 & 2 (left and right overhead) are fine, but tracks 3-6 are recording EVERYTHING (i.e. tracks 1-6 are recorded on track 3-6). Am I making any sense? I'm think it's a software issue, like, something I'm not setting correctly. I don't know. I've been doing this for a while and I am completely stumpted. Somebody help me PLEASE!!!

I think the mics are just picking up the other part of the kit, which isnt rare. What mics are you using? You might want to try re-positioning them. when you say 1&2 are overheads, are 3&4 snare and toms? try positioning them more directly facing the skins and overall nearer. I wouldnt think its a software issue from how i read it....

yeah, I use nuendo, and i can't see how things could possibly be configured to put two tracks through another four tracks at the same time, but I can see it being easy to assume that the overheads are coming through the other tracks because you can hear the whole kit through the close mics. This is pretty much unavoidable considering the mics are sitting in a room with a loud instrument, they're gonna pick up everything. It's just a question of how much separation you can get through mic placement.

Try reading the manual. It's all in there.
