OK-
I put 4 songs up on Nowhereradio. Seemed as good a place as any. Please give me any comments you would like to. I can take it. I am aware of several issues, keep in mind that I did everything in 1-2 takes and all with minimal processing. Here's what was used:

Guitars: Fender Strat, Gibson LesPaul, Epi LesPaul, Parker Fly, Martin DM
Amps: Fender BluesDeville, Pro Jr., Vox AC-30
Mics: Mostly SM-57's, Sennheiser 830's (i think), AT 4033, Apex 420
Pres: TubeMP, TubePac
Mixer: Mackie 1604VLZ
HW: Delta44, PIII 733, 512MB RAM
SW: For these I used only N-Track for mixing and Wavelab for a little compression and normalization

Thanks for listening!

I'm listening to Run Away.

There is something wrong with this mp3. It skips and pops all over the place. And things jump from the left to the right too.

Maybe my download got screwy. But I did it in one go, no resumes.

Song sounds nice though. The tracking and mix sound pretty good too. The arrangement is a little sparse though.

GEESH...

OK, NO ONE BOTHER WITH THIS YET :(

I'll let you know when they're fixed.

EDIT - They're fixed, it was me...figures :)

I checked the files for you, they are a bit corrupted. Server is operational, no errors reported on the transfers, every bit was recieved as sent as far as the logs say.

If you wish to re-try sending them, make sure you use exactly the same file-names, this will overwrite the old copies. Also, what browser/platform are you using to upload?

So far so good, looks like they work now!

Sounds excellent bud, keep it up.

Run Away:

THe guitar tone is awesome.
The bass is tight
I think the harmony is a bit loud, unless its a duet.
The new mic is great on your voice, but for some reason, it seems that you either were too far or you used a bright sounding room reverb(I'm listening with sony mdr phones)

THe song is off the hook. One of my favorite christian songs of all time.

Passing through:
Had too much sizzle on the voice.
I loved the punch, but maybe a but more presence
WHat kind of reverb did you have on the vox. I think a plate will work great with your voice.
I think you can cut the noise in the first few of the song

Draw me closer:

The vox was great, except that the female vox sounded a bit covered.

A walk in your shoes:
The guitar again was fresh.
Bass was tight
Vox was nicely recorded. Sounded a bit far. again, I think a plate will work better.

I liked this song

I really stink with reverbs. I could really use help in types and the low/high pass stuff.

I am using cruddy cakewalk and N-Track verbs on this, I agree, they stink. I need to find something good.

Thanks!

Listening to run away...the banjo is a great touch...you could actually bring it up a tad....I dont think Ive heard your stuff before but I like it....You have a great voice.....are these originals?....man, im getting a banjo....there are very few christian songs posted here...maybe I should take a crack at it.....

Cyan, favorite Christian songs here.....

Petra.....anything.....Lord I Lift Your Name On High and We Need Jesus.....

Gidge-
These are originals, thanks for the input. The banjo was given to me a couple years ago, I taught myself how to play it. But I rarely get to use it.

I'm re-mixing Run Away tonight and putting it on there, drums, guitar, banjo and all! I am also going to try a new reverb on my voice. I got a coulpe last night to try. 1 has some plates, so I'll give it a shot!

Thanks again!

Cool..I dug up the version of Run Away you posted a while back that had drums and I liked it more....cant wait to hear the new version....

BTW, If you ever are in need of a song to record, I got one that has your name all over it....

Oh man, Im feeling it....there are spots where the timing feels just a tad out, but overall its rockin....drums give this tune the POWER it deserves....

I had to get rid of that drummer. He was always off in spots (but still better than using a machine). I tracked those drums about 9 months ago, i guess. And it was all with dynamic mics (2 57's and 2 Sennheisers) into 2 tracks. So that's all I had to work with.

BTW- With the exception of the drum tracks, there is absolutely no EQ (or compression actually) on any of the other tracks. A tiny bit of compression on the stereo mix.

Thanks again guys, any input helps me alot!

I really love Run Away.....
I heart was really filled by the spirit listening to it. It shows that you have a good relationship with God and has His anoiting. Bless you! :)

Leeking-
Thanks so much! I really try to be a vessel.

I had family and friends in Penang last summer on a mission trip. My cousin worked with your national basketball team. Great to hear from you!

Run Away - really nice song. Comments? I would add your voice to the backing vocals, and dub hers in again, at least 4 more tracks. Add some reverb and spread them to create a nice full stereo image and put them back in the mix, at a slightly lower overall level as they are currently.
Another thing is that the backing track is consistently the same all the way through. Perhaps re-arrange it you have more of a variance between verse and chorus?

sjoko,
thanks so much for the input. I'll give it a shot and see what turns up!
