I Got a room in my garage that used to be like a handy man workshop and now i wanna turn it into a semi studio as i'm really having problems when recording wiht he pick up of unwanted sounds. now the room is 3.5m in width and 9.5 m in length.....is this enuff room keep in mind all i need to do live is record vocals i'm makin hip-hop so no live instruments need to be played.

i was thinkin of seperating the vocal room off using a brick wall leaving space for a window.....now what other materials should i be using, any speacial lighting that i should be usin ? should it be angeled or anything.

i'm not lookin for a professional studio i just want something that will serve its purpose and that to alow me to record my vocals well.....i'm using a rode nt1000 and joemeek 3vq preamp and the echo i'm getting at the moment is just too much

thanks and if there are any aussies answering can u give me any idea on where i can get this material from i'm in sydney

First thing is what is the building's construction......brick, timber, etc.,? What roofing material. Is the roof gabled or skillion and what is the internal headroom? How big a vocal room do you want?

And now the biggie................how much have you got to spend.

I suggest you have a good read of the information on this site...........http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html
