Hi all, I have been home recording for about 8 months now, using a free version of goldwave, and a five dollar radio shack microphone. I am finally getting the chance to upgrade my studio. I dont really have a cost budget, but I dont wanna be spending much more than $2000, if I can spend less and get a good quality studio that would be even better. I would like to keep my system as much digital as possible and avoid analog. First I should say the type of music I make is rap/hip-hop, so I dont need to be recording any instruments. I basically want a really nice vocal setup, and something to make beats on. Do I need an external 4,8,16,24 track recorder, or can I plug the mic almost directly into my computer ? Should I get cakewalk or cubase ? What microphone is better than a shure-58 for vocals, but not way more expensive ? what sort of beat programs are out there ? not a looping program though. I will probably have come up with some more questins by the time I get a response. I just would like someone out there to point me in the right direction and tell me exactly what I should get.
