Rick, just make some jpegs of the plans to start off with. I can't say I have autocad, but I did use CATIA on my lunch breaks and did everything in 3-D. I plotted out a 1/2 size plot on a Zerox plotter. I used a screen capture utility to make the jpegs. Anyhow, where in the heck does one find owens corning 703? Im tring to find a local place but Im having no such luck. John Sayers designed me a special bass trap and I need 703 to incorporate the design. Im in Seattle Burbs.

See ya's

Hi Smm, as to the 703, look for sheetrock and or insulation supply. Or email Owens, and ask who a vendor is in your area. Being in Seattle, there should be someplace who handles it. Cal supply is where I get it. As to the autocad, thanks, my delima is how I have to post it. Its my wifes ebay server, and I don't have the Cute FTP program yet.
I'm waiting on my new computer, which my sister in law built for me. Shes a network specialist for the Fed, but she won't give it to me untill I finish my wifes(her sister) kitchen:rolleyes: Ha! Leverage. The cabinet parts are being cut right now at where I work. So...... Anyway, hows your daughter. OK, I hope. Say, you live in Seattle?
I used to live on Whidbey Island. Cool place, but way overpriced now! Otherwise I would move back there. I loved it. Hows your studio commin? Didn't you say everything is packed up? Soon, mine will be too! ARGGGGGARRRRRR!! Oh well, got to tear down to make better and move. Mines in a bedroom right now.

One more thing SMM, are you related to Mixerman of Prorec fame? Just curious:p Hey, I want you guys to know I'm no expert on this studio stuff and will never claim to be. If you see something in the drawings that just don't make sense, holler loud:D I just know how I'm going to build mine once I find the right situation. For me, a home studio doesn't have to satisfy the same criteria as a commercial space. At least all of it. I'd be happy just to be sound proof. Which Velvet Elvis's is going to be tough, as the ceiling is the floor above. But I have seen quite a few solutions posted here. Just got to do a search and holler for help on each detail.
I'm sure theres someone here with the right stuff. HVAC is another animal to cage.
Its hard, though, to plan here without seeing whats going in for the house. Oh well, one step at a time. OK, I'll do those acad things and get this ball rollin!
fitz:)

Holy shit. Ok I'm gonna try this again. I posted the first drawing and and when I clicked on the address, wham! A big warning popped up saying I completely destroyed the database!! Then the whole post disappeared. What the......damn this stuff seems so easy for everyone but me:rolleyes: I always have trouble. Ok.

Wow, it posted. Ok, give me a little more time tonight and I'll post the rest. Crap, they look like shit after conversion though. Oh well! The rest show a little more, and different configurations. Ok, later.

Damn this is CONVOLUTED:rolleyes: save cad .dwg to . metafile. Open in visio. Save. Save as jpeg. Open. Save. Send to wife. She opens. uploads. Sends address to me. I post here. Ha. Owwwwwwww!! Ok heres the rest. This conversion shit ruins the zoom and I can't control how it comes out here. So they may not be viewable, but I'll figure it out yet.

I was right. They suck, zoom wise. I'll see what I can do next to fix it.
sorry.

Hey Rick...

Cool man... I like some of those designs... totally different ideas than I was able to come up with, which makes it VERY cool.

I'll take a closer (read - zoomed in) look at home tonight and see what trips my trigger.

Thanks!

Velvet Elvis

I'm glad you like them. There are more, but these are really only the logical choices for the space you have. I'f you have questions, I can post sections. Which I will do for everything when you determine what you want to do.

She is on her second dose of antibiotics but she is doing great, thanks for asking.

Cany you say drywall..still. Heh heh, interior drywall is up. Vocal booth is insulated and drywall is done. Electrical just needs hooked to circuit breakers. Challenges are cabling from control room to vocal and equipment cubby. I gotta get some pics online soon.

Only in spirit. He knows who I am, I occasionally get email, but nothing big.

IM not sure there is such a thing as an expert. I designed one commercial facility and Im on my third home studio. I learn new things everytime and sometimes your assumtions turn out to be correct. I like VE7 layout you did. Mine is odd because of the "L" shape, I have mastering duties and I wanted the ability to do recoding and mixing of my own music and for friends too. Im so anxious to finish. The 3 last purchased will be acoustic foam and doors, amybe the glass won't be so bad. Hang in there Rick.

Peace,
