Hi Jason,

Great stuff. I don't have any criticisms - at first I thought the acoustic guitar sound was a little "boxy" or something (I know it's meant to sound that way in the intro, but I'm referring to the tone in the main part of the song), but as I listened more I liked it and it works well for this type of production, especially when the accent pieces come in on the electric guitar, etc. I think you have a great song here, it's very modern and TV/Radio-friendly - hopefully that's a good thing :) It doesn't sound like a home recording to me. Is there a non-acoustic version with the full band?

Best,

Dave

We do not have a full band version recorded as yet, but there is one!! thanks for the critic.. the word boxy has come up before when people have referred to the guitar, so it could be an issue..thanks again.

When the vocals come in, I noticed a pretty huge spike in what seems to be a 400-600HZ range that almost distorted my crappy little earbuds.. Seems like it's from the guitar. No idea how it comes through on good monitors, but... FWIW, I thought I'd let ya know.

Vocalist knows his digs. Sings very well. Full of emotion. Nice rhythm keeper, too. Was that a cajon, per chance? Yeah... Good stuff. Sounds very well made.

Sounds great to me, i love it..

The guitar thing struck me too,,it sounds a little 'driven' for what it is at parts.

Also, the tambourine (or whatever you're shaking) in the right came through really close and really dry.
personal preference i guess, but it stands out to me.

yes really good fair points..
I think the spike around 400-600 is the vocal, I had comments on other recording that my vocal sound was too think and lacked in that area, I added some small boosts at that frequency and also as a kind of experimant didnt remove as much low end as I normally would.

I have the tambourine quite hard left and yes I guess it is a little dry...I started the mix with room verbs etc on and gradually reduced them almost to nothing as the mix went on as I thought it was adding a modern realism to it... BUt I guess the tambourine is a little in yer face.,.. You live you learn..

Thanks again guys ;)

if you're hearing it in the left, your speakers are wired backwards.....

or mine are.....
