New Song: Voices

This song has been giving me a real hard time - at this point I don't even know what to think about it anymore

maybe some fresh ears can give me some feedback

The timing seems pretty sloppy in some places. That'd be the first thing I look into.

The panning on the drums is really wide for my taste. I feel like I'm listening from within a left-handed kit, especially on the high hat.

The vocals are pretty muddy and washed out in the chorus. I might ease back on the 'verb a bit. (The whole thing is pretty muddy and dark, but I assume at least some of that is intentional.)

I like the suddenly-stacatto guitar at 2:35ish. Good contrast.

No offense intended, but I can see why you wouldn't be happy with the mix. It seems like it needs a lot of work.

The playing is kind of messy. Stuff is off beat in quite a few places. Gets a little better as the song goes on. But you need to watch out for that.

Vocal is a little buried. A little pitchy in spots too.

Hey - the song itself is pretty cool, but yeah, it could be tighter. I only really got thrown during some of the fills towards the end where it came apart rhythmically for a few moments.

The mix is kinda strange sounding to me. The toms are spread far too wide for my tastes, of course I'm forced to listen on phones at the moment (sony mdr somethingerothers), so that may accentuate the panning a little more.

I like some of the riffs a lot and I think you could get this to sound better with a little work.

The vocal treatment didn't do anything for me. Sort of far away, like down a long corridor, possibly underwater I suspect you are going for that kind of effect but on a rock/metal number I think the vocals need to be more upfront.

Thanks for the listen - I think I need to work on the mix sans vocals and get that all tight - probably need to rerecord some of it - The vocals are giving me the worst headache, I've tried it in about 5 different styles and I don't really like any of them... I think I was kinda drunk when I did these

I think I might be reaching beyond my grasp here... Maybe I should stick to the simple punk type crap I been doing
