Great tune. Real blues. Don't hear much of that anymore. Sounds good to my ears.

THis is where I have been the last couple of weeks. Today I got the inspiration to record, and this came out. I used 3 EH pre amps, and one channel of an ART TPS II, for a live 4 track recording. Walter

I've been way lowdown

Next time, kindly post your joints in the MP3 forum.

Uniquely unusual yet gritty down-home blues! This joint of yours takes the listener straight to the "street corners" where ole'-skool musicians entertained
passerbys with thier soulful, poetically musical interpretations of the trials & tribs experienced in their lives.
Perf wise, your voc skill, delivery & overall feel is on point though there seems to be a bit of "voc-struggling" when you venture in the upper-regs (ex. @ 1:35) yet IMHO, this very minor. Originally, I got a lil' twisted trying to flow with the git. Chord-wise I was fine, but riffs appeared off-center & out-o'-tune which I felt distracted from the direction of your joint yet after the 5th "listen", I realized that your "ruff-neck" note-bends, sliding & short-scale riff-runs fits in nicely with your voc & harmonica work! I like this!!

Recording-wise, my opinion/advice is worth no more than .0000002 cents so take it as is. Your voc-capture starts strong but then vol-levels seem to alternate bet decreasing/increasing @ 1:39 & forward (were U experimenting
with diff compression settings?). Very minor "hiss" is apparent during 'monica peaks.Git sounds good & "brush-snare" could use a db or 2 of gain.
Yo' Walt, this rite here 2 me is a wild & loose "I'm feelin' whatchu sayin' & likin' it" BLUES!
Good job bro!

Peace

Walter, that was great fun to listen to! Did you track that all live at once? I know you're the play it all at once one man band so I have to ask : ) Really fun to to listen to : )
What mics did you use on this track?
Nice!
i love people playing real music with all the humanity left in. i think the industry should raise it's standards by lowering it's standards a little : ) mistakes and mishaps never hurt a stevie wonder record.
i'm really good at auto-tuning but i sure hate doing it all the freakin' time. heck, i'm really good at mowing the grass but don't really wanna do that either.

thanks for that feedback!

Misterqcue: sorry about this. I posted it here, because there has been a lot of interest in this new preamp. Thanks for your critical ear-you really listened! I make all this up as I go along. I know not a scale, or a thing on theory. I let myself run free when I play. I used to be ashamed of my out of note guitar riffs, but now am proud to call that part of my style. I am not in it for anything, but to express myself. If any good comes after that, that is all the better! Thanks again for your ear!.

Bounce: If you look at the picture on my soundclick site, it shows the exact way I record as well. I use no tricks, except some reverb afterwards, and a bit of eq'ing. I view each song as a direct link to that moment in time. Mistakes? I have a ton in each song, but that is part of the moment. Here is the recording setup:

AKG C414 TL II- on vocals- through a EH preamp, using the XLR output
AKG 414 BULS - on guitar amp(fender deluxe reissue using a thd hotplate, and stock korean tokai copy of a 335), going through a EH
RODE NT 1A - on the top of the snare drum - EH Preamp
Ocktova MK012(russian made) as an overhead, through a ART TPS II (soon to be replaced by another EH).

Walter...great recording. I'm glad you posted here because I like to hear differnt Pre's in action. The one thing that lacks in many person's home recordings (Including my own recorings) is a live feel. You definatly have that live feel and the production is great. Even in today's major studios, nothing is live. My latest track

Wow, this is great! I've seen some of your posts describing your one man band, but I've never gotten a chance to listen, but this is great stuff! Is your room live or is that all 'verb?

Thanks for posting!

thanks again everyone for listening! I use the reverb that is built in my samplitude recording software. The rooom is pretty dead. We are getting ready to move soon, and top of my must haves, is a large open space to record, and get that natural reverb sound. I think because all the mics I use (4) are no more than 4 feet from each other, thus, there is a lot bleeding, and this gives it more "live" feel. I am going to record my trio next weekend,at my local, crazy/wild energy gig, using the EH pre's to a ADAT. I am excited to see how this turns out. I am off to listen to your song adclark, and then load the motor home for my weekly saturday gig. We get top camp on the russian river every weekend, and my gig pays for gas and food! Life is good. Walter

Whoever it was that gave me a bad rep point. I heard the clipping but I'm not about to nitpick over it. Considering it was a Live recording (a point which I think was obvious from the first listen) I don't think that it is necessary to pull hairs over the ordeal. There's a lot that could've been improved but the peformance was good. To be truthfull I was rather shocked that he does this all in one performance. At any rate I hardly think it was worth a bad rep point.

Thanks! A bad rep point? What the heck is that? I have been getting them my whole life from the music buisiness. I really don't care, because some of the best musicians in the world enjoy playing with me, and people dig it. Mainly, speaking, I dig it. That is why I do it. Too many folks get hung up on pleasing the masses, and fitting in. That is boring. Walter

All the power to you man. It's not all about the technology or the recording. Needless to say, a talented musician will shine even through a Radio Shack tape deck.
