new song -- "Speak to Me"

a bit different than my usual stuff...

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=661726&songID=8434459

my demo of this song was done about 10 years ago, with just electric guitars and a drum machine.....

i went down to st augustine fl a while back- met with crispy, who worked in a studio down there.
we agreed to collab on a few projects.

my buddy 'crispy' took it, and applied the strange samples and looped groove to it...
i only had a MP3 of his demo backing tracks to work with it, alas, crispy disappeared....
so, i re-did the vox and guitars over the last couple of weeks, here it is!

128kbps mp3, for stream or download

or, if you want the higher 320k version, download it here:

great song

I like the song it sounds great and the vocals are tight, thats where i need the help in........

this is way cool.

reminds me a bit of Porno for Pyros meets School of Fish.

It really rocks. Like the vocals and the bass line. The guitars are really really good. My favorite part of the song.

It's got a solid groove. Two thumbs up. Love the indian flare as well.

Wow.....really busy tune! Sounds like there may have been some very slight timing issues with the vocals early in the song. Great tune though!!!! Good solid groove!

this is great....a real mish mash of sounds in there..excellent instrumentation..

I too loved that bass...that's the sound Id like on some of my tracks...any suggestions?

I still have first tracks on my MP3...I think Ive got tremblant next Saturday so hopefully Ill listen to it then :)

great job on a top track!

band/1
thanks for listening...
tight vocals, the only thing i can suggest, is practice practice practice, and then when you track your vox, you're not guessing about anything....all you have to do is perform.
then, double them immediately, so it's fresh in your head, double each part, and that will thicken them up nice.

ksounds-
porno for pyros, haven't heard that name in a long time... but i always dug that stuff that perry did....
i gotta give crispy props, for all the indian flare type stuff.....
he asked me what kind of vibe and i told him i wanted it trippy, not quite rave, but groovy.
he did a good job.

jpw23-
yeah, it's gotta lot going on.
the whole idea, was to make this stuff kind blend together as one big animal...
so, the vox, and the guitars, kinda float across the top of this big writhing thing....

kcearl-
mish mash................yes!
LOL
the bass, i'm not exactly sure, if it was actually played, or if it was programmed using samples....
hey, good luck at tremblant... i know it's been cold as hell!!
i watched the world cup events at Lake Louise this weekend, that was some wild sh*t!!

yeah I was at Lake Louise last year...beautiful place right in the middle of the Rockies!

KC-
i wanna go there in the summer, and hike.
i think that'd be a spectacular place to camp/hike...
we're still waiting on the big snows to come here...
maybe this week.

and just for fun...

here's an mp3 of the original version of 'speak to me', recorded on a tascam 688 cassette multitrack unit.

it's a full blown arrangement, that i always wanted to replace the drum machine with a live drummer.
done around 1999, just before i got my VS-880ex.

this is what crispy worked off of, to create the backing tracks for the new version.
it's the same, and it's different.

Dude, this is cool !!!! Hell of a groove and nice guitar work. This is going on my Ipod for sure. Mushrooms anyone !!!!!!

Yep, it's different from your usual.
All very funky psych cool fun.
PLEASE just say the bass is reall!
I certainly get the PFPyros vibe but not as manic - this has a sweeter groove.
The git solos are terrific & really make the piece for me!

bushmaster-
hey man, glad you're diggin it.
and well, shrooms, i guess that COULD be a method....
heheh
the new mix, sounds ___________________this much better!

rayc
so glad you checked it out, i remember you liked most of the stuff i posted in the past...
i honestly don't know if the bass is PLAYED or sampled....
i know that crispy could easily play a bass line like that for sure...
so i'm hoping i'll find out one day.
i think he mostly just filled in all the strange instruments and the percussion and stuff
