Pinky

and The Brain...
I haven't been by in some time to check in, there are probably other new songs on our site as I don't check in after each one... (more about that in the dragon's cave)

Our latest song is "Sexy"... it should sicken most and put the rest of you in stitches (okay, maybe not "in stitches", but a healthy laugh at least ;) ).

Feedback is always welcome.

Hmmm. Well.... it was different. Not sure how to react.

Musically, the lead guit didn't have the best sound I've heard. What micing position did you use. It seemed a little out of tune as well.

I might have brought the voice in sooner to keep the flow moving.

My thoughts...

Ha! That was a good laugh to start the day:). I agree that it takes a little long to get started for what is basically a humourous novelty tune. Mix-wise, it had a very "roomy" feel which worked fine for the material.

oooh, that voice...

Chris

PS: Damn, the server has become a serious pain in the ass. It's getting pretty frustrating to just try to listen to a couple songs and post a reply. Hope this isn't permanent.

The tuning thing was kinda unavoidable, but the "sound" could be a little fatter (it was a direct-in from the mixer to the PC). Good suggestion.

I dunno about ruining ALL the song with that annoying voice! :p

Not sure how serious you are about this song, but, I find the lead guitar rather annoying, playing and tone wise....but, I do like the "sexy voice" ping-pong effect, and the roomy acoustic sound tho

I'll take the good with the bad... I think smoothing the lead (reverb and compression) will help a lot with the tone/annoyingness (yes, I heard it too, one of the things I'm glad to hear criticism here).

"fixed" the lead guitar some (flange and heavy reverb).

Thanks for the tips, the rest of the song remains unchanged, I consider this one 'done'.

:)

Pretty funny. I like it. Only two pokes at the production. It takes too long to get off the ground and the laed still sounds poopy.:D

Good thing Rush never caved to the record company's wishes and condensed 2112 to 2 minutes and 12 seconds! :p

j/k

thanks for the feedback, unfortunately I couldn't find a way of chopping the beginning without losing the build I had constructed when I last worked on the song...

The lead sounds like shit 'cause I can't play lead worth a snot... next time I'm gonna just leave the leads to Lew, the "real" guitarist of the project (I don't like playing leads anyone, I love song writing and producing and never considered a "lead" critical to a song anyway, which probably explains why it sounds so "forced"...

Okay, I hate you Track Rat, you again helped me!!! :p

I cleaned it up, again... dunno that I've ever done 3 revisions... this one was easy, just eliminate a minute of music and the opening lead! ;)

Sexy / space monkey

Hmm, sounds like an old Korg drum machine I had back in the late eighties. Bass is kind of rumbly and undefined, wasn't too crazy about the flange lead...

Downloaded Space Monkey to try and get a song with "singing" vocals, but it was talking too. Had a better rhythm section, but everything sounded kind of hollow, like a basement jam with a lot of mic bleed.

I would like to have heard that, but I couldn't get it to play.
