this is one of eleven, to be on my new cd release.

unmastered mix, dithered to 16 bit and then to 320kbps mp3.


how is this translating?

Sounds very compressed to me, but not actually very loud.
Not quite sure how that happened, what have you got on your master bus?

Like the individual instrument sounds though.
And nicely double-tracked sounding vocals with the BV's.

the 'very compressed' comment is confusing....
there is individual compression added to select tracks..... vox, acoustics, drums, standard stuff..... the electrics are uncompressed, bass is heavily limited but in a way that allows the attack to stay, sustain to intensify.....

but there's nothing that's stepped on individually.
i just have very controlled tracks going in, just the nature of loud electric guitars that are already compressed by the amp. i sing off the mic, so i rarely peg it, but i do run external compression on all my vocals, but set the compressor to be fairly transparent except for the odd peak here and there.....


as i said above, this is an un-mastered track. there's nothing across the buss.

i'm curious, what is your playback system like?
