Hey everybody,
New song here, used EZ Drummer for the first time. Might change the backing vocals (waiting on tracks from a friend, replace mine with his), but other than that, I think it's done, as far as tracking. Could use some pointers for the mix, especially since I'm still pretty new at recording. Any tips, comments, suggestions are welcome & thanks in advance.

I listening on my gaming rig and a set of sony mdr-v150 headphones (which I hate). Any way the main vocals are way too loud in the mix. The instruments levels are fine. Back off the main vocals and your good to go

Thanks Bushmaster,
I appreciate the listen, & appreciate the tip. It's kinda funny, I posted this in another forum & everyone there said the vocals were fine, maybe even bring them up!!! I guess every place & everybody has different opinions. Thanks for the L & C though, the tracking on this is done, just have to tweak the mix some more. Thanks again!!!

Not bad. I think everything is a little too wet. I know big reverbs and delays are common in this genre, but this might be a little too much. I don't know what the actual term is for what's going on, but I call it "dirty reverb". It's like, everything is so wet and roomy that it's all clashing together and making the track sound noisy. For example, the hi hats banging away coupled with the big reverb create a hissing rain kind of sound in the background. Back off the reverb some on everything or use a different setting and get some clarity in there. The vocals are a little loud in the choruses, but just barely. Verse levels seem fine.

Nice guitar playing and tones.

The drums sound pretty decent, but a little robotic. Keep playing with your EZ Drummer and see if you can get a more human sound.

I need to get my damn, Klipsch 3.1's fixed. I hate listening with these Sony headphones. I dont get on the net with my studio pc and my speaker amp on my game rig went out a few months ago. So Ive been using those Sony headphones. Their good enough for games, but whacked for music (IMHO). I miss my Klipsch's. They freakin rock !!! So I might be off a little with the vocal remark.

I don't know if you edited the song after the comment about the vocals being too loud, but when I listened today, they sound about right. I really like the guitar playing and guitar tones. Don't change that.

It rocks pretty good, minerman, has a kind of 80's feel to it (Alice Cooper comes to mind....).
I think though you should work on the guitar sound a bit. It lacks mids a lot and I think that's why the voice sounds a bit louder at times. Frequency-wise I feel a bit of a hole in the middle which you could fix by beefing up the guitars. Pretty good on the whole.

Thanks everybody!!!! I was hoping for some good feedback like this, that's the only way I'm gonna improve. Thanks!!!

Greg: When I listen to your songs, they always sound so clear & clean. They seem to just "pop" out at me. I'll do a re-mix this weekend & try to get some "clarity" like you suggested. Thanks for listening, your comments are always welcome & I always try to do what you suggest, because you are very experienced. Thanks again Greg!!!

Bushmaster: Thanks for yet another listen & comment, no offense taken by your comment man! A re-mix is on the way. Thanks again!!!

guitar zero: Thanks for the L & C (listen & comments), might do a little tweaking on the guitar tones, but I think playing wise, it's decent. Thanks again!!!

Joey: Thanks man!!! I've learned tons in the last few months, but I still have a long way to go. I agree the mids might have something to do with the vocals sounding too loud. Re-mix is on the way. Thanks again man, & BTW, your new tunes ROCK!!!

The mix is great. The vocals are the only thing I would work on. Something doesn't sound quite right with em. Maybe too loud, maybe not thick enough to match the rest of the mix. I would experiment with anything that might change the vocals in some way. Also, it it possible that it's not a good recording of the vox? Re-record vox?

Thanks auburncatfish!
I appreciate the comments, been working on this one for a while now. Regarding the vocals, it is most likely the recording itself is the problem.First, I'm not much of a singer, and my room's acoustics are probably terrible. Thanks for the listen & comments, re-mix is on the way!!!! Thanks again!!

Sorry about that dodgeaspen,
I did a quick re-mix, & re-loaded it into Soundclick. The song id # is differrent, & I forgot to come back & change it. So, here's the new mix:

I added some backing vocals to it at the end, but I'm not sure they're gonna stay. A friend of mine sang those, & I hated not to use them, but I'd say I'll take them out. Thanks for trying, should load now.
